Outdoor Skills Acquisition

Ikigi (purpose)

This is a course, NOT a workshop. It can be taught as a two-day experience or can be divided into four half-day sessions. This curriculum provides the “whole enchilada” of Bushcraft, forest navigation, and “thriving, not just surviving” skills needed to comfortably hike and spend the night in our local “River to Bluff” ecosystem.

Umbutu (connection)

This experience is offered only to “moais,” as it is designed not only to enhance nature connection skills but also to emphasize group connection skills.

Hanta (movement)

Other activities may be added to enhance the experience (group sauna, using the power of the circle for connection, etc.)

• In the core of the course, you will produce your own “River to Bluff” overnight bushcraft forest kit
• Modify carbon steel pakka knife (yours to keep)
• Learn the 2x2x2x2 rule
• Basic fire starting techniques
• Basic forest navigation techniques
